The story behind this design
Australia's states are big enough to take a wash each without the map turning into a patchwork, which is why the continent suits this treatment better than most. The interior is given warm ochres and the coasts cooler tones. State names sit inside their own areas rather than on leader lines.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Are the Australian states named on the map?
A: Yes. The artwork is a watercolor map of Australia labeled with its state names.
Q: What frame comes with this poster?
A: An ayous wood frame, offered in black, red oak or white.
Q: How many sizes are offered?
A: Thirteen sizes are offered, from 8x10 inches up to 24x36 inches, including five square shapes.
Q: Does a square size suit a map of Australia?
A: Australia is wider than it is tall, so the square sizes leave margin above and below the continent, while the landscape sizes fill more of the frame.
Care
Dust the frame and glazing with a dry, soft cloth. Ochres and warm washes hold longest away from direct sun, so pick a wall out of the light.
