The story behind this design
A wax seal is a shape before it is an image, so the design starts with the irregular pressed disc and the little spill of wax at its edge. The eagle is struck into the center in low relief, drawn with the slight softening a real seal gives to fine detail. Red wax against an antique gold rim is what gives the emblem its official, document-sealed character.
