The swirls were drawn freehand and allowed to overlap, so loops pass behind one another instead of politely taking turns. Color changes as each line travels, which makes a single swirl look like several ribbons laid end to end. On the black version the lines glow; on the white one they read as ink on paper, and the same drawing gives two quite different moods.
