The story behind this design
Ribbons of green and violet aurora fill the sky of the left panel, a cardinal holds a snow-loaded branch in the center, and small skaters trace loops on ice in the right. The red of the bird is placed deliberately between the two cooler panels so the eye lands on it first. Keeping the skaters tiny gives the whole set its sense of scale.
