The story behind this design
The elephant stands in profile, trunk curled up, and its whole body is filled with concentric mandala work — petals, teardrops and dotted borders following the curve of the ear and the back. Indigo, turquoise and a warm saffron carry the pattern against an off-white ground. The mood is ornamental and calm, and it reads as pattern first and animal second.
