The story behind this design

Navy is the more interesting of the two grounds here, because the flag's own blue canton has to work against it and the drawing has to find a way to separate them. The stripes are given slightly uneven edges, so the flag reads as cloth rather than clip art. It is a straightforward Independence Day shirt, drawn with more care than the occasion usually gets.
