The story behind this design

The arcs nest inside one another in uneven bands, each one a little thicker than the last, so the rainbow looks drawn rather than measured. The colors are pulled out of soil and clay instead of the spectrum: rust, terracotta, mustard, olive and a dusty cream that nearly matches the canvas itself. Set against undyed cotton the whole motif reads warm and grounded, which is what the name is getting at.
