The story behind this design
Gingham works by overlap, two sets of stripes crossing so the squares come in three tones rather than two, and this version keeps that structure but softens the edges so the check looks woven rather than ruled. The scale is generous, closer to a picnic cloth than a shirt. It is a deliberately plain pattern for a blanket, on the reasoning that a throw shares a room with everything else in it.
