The skull is drawn in line and shadow with no blood or gore, so the shirt works for Halloween without tipping into horror. The story behind this design
The unsettling part of this skull is not its teeth but its proportions: the cranium is drawn slightly too tall and the eye sockets slightly too deep, which the eye registers as wrong before the mind names why. Hatching does all the shading, laid in one direction so the whole face tilts into shadow on the left. The palette never leaves bone, ash and a cold grey.
