The story behind this design
A white lion is already an unlikely animal, so throwing color at it is less a gimmick than a way of putting the improbability on record. The face is rendered tight and realistic — nostrils, teeth, the fold of the muzzle mid-roar — and then the mane simply gives up being fur and becomes pigment. Heather Ice Blue is the ground that sells it: cold enough to let the splashes look thrown.
