The story behind this design
Flattening foliage into geometry is a deliberate refusal of the botanical-illustration route: no veins, no shading, just leaf silhouettes arranged as shapes. That reads better on a heavy canvas weave than fine line work would, because the cloth texture would swallow the detail anyway. Against the undyed Natural ground the shapes look printed rather than woven, which is exactly the contrast intended.
