The story behind this design
Because the lid sits over the top of the mug, the artwork was drawn to live entirely on the lower two thirds of the body, where nothing obscures it. The leaves are arranged in a rising band rather than an even scatter for the same reason: it reads as a complete composition from the side, which is the only angle from which an insulated mug is really seen. Warm ambers and golds against the glossy white, with the leaf edges kept crisp so they survive the gloss.
