The story behind this design
A vine pattern has a direction, which most all-over florals do not: the stems travel, and the flowers are incidents along the way rather than the subject. Drawing them to run continuously around a sleeve means the pattern never presents a front, so the case looks composed whichever way it lands in a bag. The pastels are held close together so the greens never dominate.
