DipaliZ Plaid Tote Bag Retro Character Durable Polyester

This DipaliZ tote bag measures 13 by 13 inches and is printed with a retro cartoon character wearing a thoroughly grumpy expression, set on a plaid background. Five colors are offered: Black, Red, White, Beige and Navy. At 13 inches square it is a compact bag rather than a big market shopper. Books, a packed lunch or a short errand are the right load. The size and colors are taken from this tote's own pickers.

The story behind this design

The character is drawn in the thick-outline, flat-fill style of mid-century advertising mascots, with heavy lidded eyes and a mouth set in a flat line rather than a frown, which is what makes the grumpiness read as long-suffering instead of angry. The plaid behind is deliberately a little too cheerful for the mood, in rust, mustard and cream, and that mismatch is the joke.
