The story behind this design
The cover treats the quest as a set of objects rather than a scene: a sword laid flat, a key, a rolled scroll and a single unlit lantern, arranged as though emptied out of a pack. Nothing is in action. Deep greens and tarnished golds sit on near-black, and the matte lamination keeps the whole thing from catching light, which suits a book meant to look already used.
