The story behind this design

Because the shirt is black, the car is drawn as a light-on-dark study: chrome, glass and the top edges of the bodywork are picked out while the lower half of the vehicle dissolves into the garment. That approach makes the cloth part of the picture rather than a background to it. A cool blue-white was used for the highlights instead of a warm one, which gives the scene a night-time character.
