The story behind this design
The bear is drawn heavy-shouldered and settled rather than reared up, which is the right posture for the word Papa. Fur is built from short repeated strokes so the animal keeps some texture against a flat Gold ground. On White the drawing reads lighter and more like a nursery illustration than a Father's Day slogan.
