The story behind this design
The frog sits square on the cap of a red toadstool with its feet tucked in, painted in mossy green with a paler throat and a very small, contented expression. White spots on the cap are irregular in size, and around the base the artist has drawn unfurling ferns, a few blades of grass and a scatter of tiny brown mushrooms. The palette stays in a woodland register throughout, moss and fern green against brick red and damp earth brown.
