The story behind this design

Rudolph is drawn here tangled up in a string of Christmas lights, which gives the design its joke and its warmth. The bulbs scatter color across the reindeer rather than sitting in a neat line, so the artwork feels hand-arranged. A single red nose among the lit bulbs is the detail children tend to find first.
