The story behind this design
Where a scattered floral leaves gaps, a vine pattern joins everything up: the stems do the work of the background, so the eye travels along them instead of stopping at each flower. The drawing takes its cue from crewel embroidery, with curling tendrils and leaves that turn to show their paler undersides.
