The story behind this design
One mug, centred and drawn straight on, is the whole composition here, which gives it a stillness that a busier cafe scene never has. The handle curls out to one side to break the symmetry and a few beans rest at the base as though they had just spilled from the grinder. Brown and black inks on a pale ground keep the drawing modern and uncluttered, the sort of icon that would look at home stencilled on a roastery window.
