The story behind this design
In this version the moon is pushed further back behind the wolf and given a soft halo, so the animal sits inside the light rather than in front of it. Dark grey heather was added to the colour range for exactly this reason: the flecked cloth reads as falling snow behind the figure in a way flat black cannot. The wolf's coat is built from short directional strokes rather than solid fill.
