The story behind this design

The blossoms are scattered on a diagonal drift, heavier at the top left and thinning towards the opposite corner, as though the wind took them off a branch that is not shown. Petals are painted in two pinks with no outline and the stems are reduced to hairline strokes. Leaving the branch out of frame is the whole trick: the cover reads as motion rather than botany.
