The story behind this design
The pun only works if the viewer recognises the object immediately, so the cassette is drawn at a generous size with the spools and the shutter clearly separated rather than reduced to a symbol. The lettering sits across the label strip in rough capitals, as a rental shop would have stamped it. On Bay and Chambray the faded ground does half the period work, which is why no artificial distressing was added to the print.
