The story behind this design
A scorpion is a good shape for legwear because it is long rather than round, so it follows the line of a thigh instead of fighting it. The drawing keeps the segmented tail curling up and the pincers low and wide, rendered in flat dark ink with no shading, and the steel blue ground is cool enough that the graphic reads as drawn on rather than printed into. Nothing else is added: no stripe, no wordmark, one image per leg.
