The story behind this design
The triangle is the plainest shape that still makes a rhythm, and holding the whole pattern to one shape is what keeps the design quiet. Each row shifts a half step against the row beneath it, so the surface reads as woven rather than stamped. The neutral tones were kept close together on purpose: the pattern shows most clearly in raking morning light and almost disappears at night.
