The story behind this design
Surf art has always exaggerated its colors, because a photograph of a real wave at sunset is mostly gray. This design takes that licence to its limit: the water is turquoise, the sky is pink and the sun is a flat orange disc with no glow around it at all. The waves are stacked in even ranks so the whole thing reads as a poster rather than as a seascape.
