The story behind this design
Red and yellow were chosen to sit together at full strength rather than to soften one another, which gives the pattern its warmth even across a king-size bed. The blooms are drawn open-faced and slightly flattened, in the manner of a printed cotton furnishing fabric rather than a botanical study. Scattered green stems break the repeat so the eye travels across the bed instead of settling on one flower.
