The story behind this design
A pale log lies across the lower third of the composition and breaks the run of the water, giving the eye somewhere to rest before the bank rises behind it. The palette is autumn at its warmest point, amber and rust leaves against wet stone grey and the dark green that has not yet turned. The mood is damp, still and late in the season rather than bright and postcard-like.
