The story behind this design
This still life keeps its brushwork visible, so the fruit reads as painted rather than photographed: apple red laid down in flat confident strokes, lemon yellow left slightly uneven, mango skins carrying a blush at the shoulder. The bananas run diagonally through the group and give the composition its movement. The overall feel is homely and appetising, a table caught mid-week rather than a formal arrangement.
