The story behind this design

Every stamp in the collage is drawn at a slightly different angle and none of the perforated edges align, which is what makes the cover read as a shoebox of old post rather than a printed pattern. Sepia, faded crimson and a washed-out blue dominate, with cancellation marks running across several stamps at once. A few sit partly under their neighbours, so the pile has depth rather than lying flat.
